How to run a break
 
So you want to know how to run a break?

Things you should know before running a break:
* When you attack somebody, the damage you sent is divided equally throughout their ships. E.G. If they have 5Ships Defending, and you send 1,000 damage points at them, each of their ships will take 200damage points each.

* A successful break sends as little overkill as possible. (Overkill is where you send more than what is needed to break their ships. E.G. if it takes 5,000 damage points to kill a ship, and you send 10,000 damage points, that’s 5,000 overkill)

* To not have overkill you kill the ships in groups, smallest ships first. E.g. first you kill corvettes, then Wolverines, then talons, etc. Because if a ship dies from an attack where you send too much, damage points are being wasted.

 
How you calculate it
 
When calculating breaks always just add the shields and hull together as one.
It will be as follows:
Corvette = 7,000
Wolverine = 16,000
Talon = 21,000
Raven = 24,000
Eagle = 26,000
Frigate = 32,000
Destroyer = 46,000
Gunship = 64,000
Falcon = 88,000
Cruiser = 115,000
Sovereign = 150,000
Dreadnought = 190,000
Star-Fury = 220,000
Nighthawk = 26,000
Ender = 53,500

I’ll now try to explain how you work it out. But I will go through with an example later on then do another to test you.

Step 1. Work out the damage to kill their first set of ship(s). You do this by multiplying the hull and shields of that ship (see above) by the amount of ships defending. Since the damage sent is divided equally throughout the ships the first set will now die.

Step 2. Work out the damage to kill the next set of ships. Remembering that each ship already has the same amount of damaged caused to it as it has took to kill the previous ships. E.G if you killed corvettes before it, each ship will take taken 7,000 damage, so now subtract this from the hull + shields from each of the remaining ships. Then multiply this number by the number of remaining ships.

Step 3. Repeat Step 2 until you know the exact figures to kill each set of ships. If they have 5 different types of ships defending, then you should have 5 different sets of numbers to kill each set of ships in turn.

 
Example
 
Ok as you probably didn’t understand that, I will try to explain it better with an example.

Lets say that an empire has 3 corvettes, 2 talons, 1 frigate and 1 Gunship.

1. Calculate how many ships the empire has defending. = 7

2. Find the lowest ship(s) and calculate how much to kill them. = There is 3corvettes, each with 7,000 hulls + shields, So 7,000 multiplied by 7 ships = 49,000 damage points to kill them.

3. Find the next lowest ship(s) and calculate how much to kill it. = The next lowest ships are 2 talons, normally talons have 21,000 hulls + shields, but since the first attack to kill the corvettes will have caused 7,000 damage to each ship, so now its only 14,000 damage. So now there are only 4ships defending, so the next attack will be 14,000 multiplied by 4 ships = 56,000 damage.

4. Find the next lowest ship(s) and calculate how much to kill it. = The next lowest ship is 1 frigate, a frigate is normally 32,000 hulls + shields, but since killing the corvettes will have caused 7,000 damage and killing the talons will have caused 14,000 damaged, so 32,000 – 7,000 – 14,000 = 11,000. So now there are only 2ships left defending, 11,000 multiplied by 2 = 22,000

5. Find the next lowest ship(s) and calculate how much to kill it. = The next lowest ship is 1 Gunship, a gunship is normally 64,000 hulls + shields, but since killing the corvettes will cause 7,000 damage, the talons will cause 14,000 damaged, killing the frigate will cause 11,000 damage, so 64,000 – 7,000 – 14,000 – 11,000= 32,000. So now there are only 1ship left defending, 32,000 multiplied by 1 = 32,000

6. So to kill this fleet it will be: 49000 || 56000 || 22000 || 32000 send this amount of damage to do the perfect break

How much is needed to kill their corvettes? (total to kill 1 corvette * total number of ships)


How much is needed to kill their wolverines? ((total to kill 1 wolverine – damage that was needed to kill corvette) * total number of ships remaining)


How much is needed to kill their talons? ((total to kill 1 talon – damage that was needed to kill corvette – damage that was needed kill 1 wolverine) * total number of ships remaining)


How much is needed to kill their eagle? ((total to kill 1 eagle – damage that was needed to kill corvette – damage that was needed to kill 1 wolverine – damage that was needed to kill 1 talon) * total number of ships remaining)


How much is needed to kill their frigates? ((total to kill 1 frigate – damage that was needed to kill corvette – damage that was needed to kill 1 wolverine – damage that was needed to kill 1 talon – damage that was needed to kill 1 eagle) * total number of ships remaining)


How much is needed to kill their destroyer? ((total to kill 1 destroyer – damage that was needed to kill corvette – damage that was needed to kill 1 wolverine – damage that was needed to kill 1 talon – damage that was needed to kill 1 eagle - damage that was needed to kill 1 destroyer) * total number of ships remaining)
