This IRC tutorial isnt a IRC user guide or command listing although there will be a few this is purley to help you get set up with mIRC So you want to get on to star fury IRC? this tutorial will help you to PROPERLY set up mIRC for just this First thing you want to do is visit http://www.mirc.com/get.html and Get a copy Of mIRC and install it, once you have done this load up mIRC, this should bring up something that looks like Image One (1)

Step Two				Image Two (2)

Full Name: In full name you can put anything you want, this infomation can be easily accessed by anybody on the server, don't have to be truthful Email Address: same as the full name basically Nick Name: What your visible name on IRC is, just like your nickname on forums etc this is what people see you as Alternative: if your nickname is already taken it will automatically switch to this name Invisible mode: if you tick this box this will make you invisible to /who commands See image two (2) for an example

Next you want to set up the server settings so click on the Servers tab just under the connect tab you started on See image three (3) Then click on the ADD button so we can add the star fury server you then get a little pop up window.

Step Four				Image Four (4)

Description: this anything so that you know what server this is IRC Server: This is the actual address of the server, in star fury's case this is either irc.star-fury.com orion.star-fury.com or fusion.star-fury.com you can put in any Ports: this is the port that irc connects with, if your behind a firewall irc does NOT require you to open ports to chat with although for sending files you will, as Star fury uses the default ports leave this as 6667 Group: alot of networks has more then one server and so more then one addresses just like star fury if you add more then one of these servers you can group them all together if you label them all the same, in here i would put star-fury. Password: some irc servers needs a password to connect star fury doesnt so leave this blank- it should look like image four (4)

SF Login

Then all you have to do is click okay and press the connection arrow in the top left hand corner. This looks like a single lightning bolt when disconnected and two smaller lightning bolts when connected. The status window will the load up all the connection routines and the MOTD (message of the day) messages from the server most of this can be ignored but its best to read the rules.
